Where my love for making Bridal Jewellery came from!

People often ask me where do I get my inspiration for my designs! Well, since a little girl I always loved pretty beaded designs on fabric, jewellery. Later on in during my teenage years I got very interested in Japanese designs, the combination of intricated design with flowers and birds, needless to say my art at that time was combining my new interest.
After starting art college, more influances were gathering in my mind, Art Deco and the Edwardian period, the uses of lace, flowers, embroidery incorpoating beading, textures and angles all were apparent in my drawings and sketched.
Lace is such a fabolus material, espeically when used in veiling. As a young artist out seeing the world I had by chance through a very good friend visit a bridal designer in Paris. To see the ladies working by hand with a large piece of veiling stretched over a large frame beading each pearl and swarovski crystal was so inspiring. At that stage in my life I did not realise that one day I too would be helping future brides with their accessories, for their veiling.

The veil above is from the Edwardian period, to see such detail is amazing, considering that real silk would have been used and the ladies doing the embroidery were not as well paid as they are today!

This wonderful elegant and simple in our eyes today would have been so modern in the early 1920. Or as it was best know as "The Roaring 20's" Coco Chanel was still up and coming!
The funny thing is that this style done has been reproducted since then.

The "Juliet Cap" very modern in the 1970 and early part of the 1980's but the veiling was brought more to the back of the head as was the "cap" itself. I love sometimes where clothes of yester-years are brought back into fashion but revamped.

I am just waiting for the tulle petti-coats are brought back into fashion like those of the 1950 (mostly america). The structure of the dresses and gowns were all about showing off a ladies figure considering the average size fitting was a size 12. I fell in love with the Grace Kelly era all thanks to the Movie "The Sound of Music", I know it was made in the 60's but the fashion had hint of the late 50's to it.
